Information we collect
Information you give us
If you use our contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address and message. We use this only to reply to you and improve the site, and we don’t add you to mailing lists.
Information collected automatically
When you visit, our site and our service providers automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, time on page, referring site and approximate location (country or city). Much of this is collected through cookies and similar technologies, described below.
How we use information
- To run, secure and improve the website
- To understand which articles are useful, using aggregated analytics
- To show advertising that keeps the site free
- To respond to messages
- To comply with legal obligations
Cookies, analytics and advertising
We use cookies and similar technologies, including those set by these third parties:
- Google Analytics (loaded through Google Tag Manager) to measure visits and how pages are used. Learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- Ezoic to deliver and optimize ads and site performance. Ezoic and its advertising partners, which may include Google AdSense and other ad networks, use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see them, measure their performance and, where permitted, personalize them. A list of Ezoic’s partners appears below.
- Amazon Associates. When you click an Amazon link, Amazon may set cookies to credit us for qualifying purchases.
- Pinterest, if you use a Pinterest share or save button.
Your choices and consent
- Consent tool: visitors in regions that require consent, such as the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, see a consent banner before non-essential cookies are used. You can change your choices at any time through the privacy or cookie settings link on the site.
- Browser settings: you can block or delete cookies in your browser. Some features may not work properly if you do.
- Personalized ads: you can opt out of personalized Google ads at Google Ad Settings and learn more about ad choices at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu.
- Analytics: you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising, as defined under laws such as the GDPR, UK GDPR and California’s CCPA/CPRA. To make a request, email [email protected]. We don’t sell personal information for money. Where ad partners’ use of cookies counts as “sharing” under state law, you can opt out through the consent tool or the opt-out links above.
How long we keep information
We keep contact messages only as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable period afterwards. Analytics and advertising partners keep data according to their own retention policies.
Children
Pestbugs is a general-audience site and isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The site uses HTTPS encryption. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect information.
